Standards involved
The source names five pillars of quality infrastructure. These are accreditation, metrology, standardization, conformity assessment and technical regulation. Laboratories in this system work to ISO/IEC 17025:2017, and certification bodies work to ISO/IEC 17021-1:2015. Organisations that trade under the AfCFTA often show their quality through ISO 9001:2015 certification.
How it fits the Project's vision
The project builds the testing, accreditation and standards base that lets African goods be trusted across borders. An Africa that competes on quality depends on that base.
Working with us
QI-Africa works with continental and national quality institutions and does not take applications from companies. The ISO Certification Africa Project helps laboratories, certification bodies and producers prepare for this system. We run readiness reviews and gap assessments, and support implementation to ISO/IEC 17025:2017, ISO/IEC 17021-1:2015 or ISO 9001:2015. Write to [email protected] to arrange a gap assessment.
